Once logged in to your account, you will be able to view your Medicare number. There is also an option to print a copy of your Medicare card from your home printer.

If your card is still coming in the mail and you just want to access your Medicare number, click instead on the text that says get a Benefit Verification Letter.
At this point, make sure your devices pop-ups are allowed. If not, you wont be able to see your Medicare number.

When you enroll in Medicare, you will get your Medicare card in the mail. Your unique Medicare number will be on this card.
You can expect your Medicare card also called your red, white, and blue card to come in the mail 3 months before you turn 65 or your 25th month of receiving disability benefits.
Its important to note that your card is paper, similar to a Social Security Card, which makes it easy to photocopy. Because your card is paper it make be easily damaged or lost, so be sure to be careful!

What Information Is On Your Medicare Card
Besides your full name, your Medicare card includes your Medicare number as well as important information about the health insurance coverage to which you are entitled. This includes:2
- Medicare numberThis is one of the most important pieces of information on your Medicare card. Its what the billing department will use when it submits for reimbursement from Medicare. Your Medicare number used to be your Social Security number , but now its a more secure, randomly generated combination of 11 numerals and capital letters. It is confidential and should only be shared with people you trust.3
- Part AIf you have Part A, labeled HOSPITAL, you are entitled to care in a hospital or skilled nursing facility, hospice care and home healthcare. The date your coverage begins is also included.4

If you are enrolled in a Medicare Advantage Plan, you will receive a separate ID card. If your plan covers prescription drugs, your MA card will include that information too. You should use your MA card as your primary Medicare card, but you should still keep your Medicare card in a safe place.

How Do I Get A Replacement Card
You can get a replacement Medicare card on the Social Security website, at SSA.gov. Once youre logged into your account, select the Replacement Documents tab. Then you will have the option to select Mail my replacement Medicare Card.
You can expect your replacement Medicare card to arrive in the mail in about 30 days.
Be sure that your current address is correct in your Social Security account before requesting a replacement card, as your card will be sent to the address that you have on file.

If you already receive retirement benefits, then your enrollment in Medicare will be automatic. This will be the case whether your benefits come from Social Security or the Railroad Retirement Board.
Three months prior to your 65th birthday, you should receive a package in the mail with your red, white, and blue Medicare card along with additional information about your enrollment. Your Medicare card will contain your Medicare number, which will be used to identify you and allow you to receive your benefits.
Who Does The New Medicare Beneficiary Identifier Affect
As of January 1, 2020, the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015 requires the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services to use MBIs on Medicare cards instead of SSNs. The change will impact every healthcare provider, physician, and supplier that submits claims to the Medicare Administrative Contractors for any services rendered to Medicare beneficiaries.
As a result of the MACRA, an MBI lookup tool will be added to all MAC web portals. No matter when services were provided, all providers must now use MBIs on all Medicare transactions. Only these identifiers will be accepted on Medicare claim submissions with few exceptions, although the IRS and the SSA will still use SSNs for tax and other similar purposes.

Your Medicare Beneficiary Identifier number is for billing and identification purposes.
On a Medicare card received before 2015, your Medicare Claim Number consisted of your Social Security number followed by a code of letters and sometimes numbers that have a specific meaning.
In more recent years, a randomly-generated combination of letters and numbers replaced this Medicare Claim number.
