Whats The Difference Between A Quadtro Select Cushion And A Single Compartment

ROHO and Comfort Cushions | Wheelchair Care

The basic difference between a Quadtro Select and a standard ROHO is an extra valve located on the front of the Quadtro cushion that splits the cushion into four equal compartments. The valve can either be opened to allow airflow throughout the entire cushion or it can be closed to control airflow to the four specific quadrants. This allows the client to customize the amount of air in each chamber. When the valve is open, air flows freely between quadrants and performs like a standard ROHO. The drawback is having an extra metal and plastic valve on the front of the cushion that some customers find to be cumbersome. It is an excellent cushion if you require the ability to adjust air volume in each quadrant for positioning needs and contouring to your body.

Different needs require different heights and styles, but assessing your specific uses and abilities will help guide you to the proper selection.

Cushion Size: Standard Pediatric Or Bariatric

Although this option is largely self-explanatory, it’s certainly worth mentioning! Each ROHO/Air wheelchair cushion comes available in a selection of sizes, so pay attention to compatible sizing options when choosing a model.

For example, if you are purchasing a cushion for a child, keep an eye out for pediatric sizing options likewise, if you are an adult looking for a larger cushion, models labeled bariatric are your best bet!

Determining what cushion size is right for you is actually very simple: measure the dimensions of your wheelchairs seat, and make sure the cushion youre eyeing is available in those measurements.

It May Be Time To Replace Your Cushion

Will Medicare Pay For A Roho Cushion

There isnt any specific time line about how often cushions should be replaced according to Medicare. Experts on the Medicare guidelines are certain that they will pay for a new cushion every 3 years.

The ordering process for new cushions is slow, which is another reason you should request one every 3 years. It is best to order a new cushion when the current one is still in good condition. Your clinician will be able to help you with your evaluation and ordering process. If you wait too long you could be at risk of developing pressure sores.

Some other advantages of getting a new cushion every 3 years include having your old cushion as a backup when needed. You can even use it for extra cushioning.

    What Is A Roho Cushion

A ROHO is a pressure relief cushion that is made of soft, flexible air cells connected by small channels. This allows air to flow from one cell to another at a controlled rate. The user’s weight is distributed evenly across the surface of the cushion, providing proper support.

    Additional Information

ROHO is a well-known brand of quality medical air cushions. A ROHO cushion is made of neoprene and has air cells of different sizes and heights along various areas of the cushion. The inflated air cells flex with the shape of your body and your movement. This keeps too much weight and pressure from being applied to a single area of the body, helping to prevent pressure injuries. Along with wheelchair cushions, ROHO also makes toilet seat cushions, mattress overlays, and cushion accessories.

ROHO also makes toilet seat cushions with their signature air cell design. These air cushions are used to comfortably position and stabilize the body over a toilet or commode. The inflatable cells adjust and redistribute pressure as you move. This helps prevent pressure sores and skin damage that can occur from repeatedly sitting on a hard toilet or commode surface. The ROHO commode seat cushion is more of a square shape that lies flat against the commode opening, creating a stable and comfortable surface to sit on. The ROHO toilet seat cushion is contoured to fit around the toilet seat and has straps that keep it in place.
