How Do I Apply For Medicare In Michigan
There are many ways to enroll in Medicare in Michigan. You can apply in person at your nearest Social Security office, over the phone or online.
If youre already receiving benefits from Social Security or Railroad Retirement Board , you dont need to do anything. You will automatically be enrolled in Medicare parts A and B on the first day of the month you turn 65. Just keep an eye out for your red, white and blue Medicare card to come in the mail.

About Michigan Medicare Plans
Medicare Parts A and B are offered by the government. You can increase your coverage by purchasing a Part D drug coverage plan and a Medicare Supplement plan from a private insurance company. While Part D plans cover prescription drugs, Medicare Supplement plans help cover expenses like deductibles and copays that you would otherwise have to pay out of pocket.
As an alternative, if you have Medicare eligibility in Michigan, you can enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan through a private insurance company. More than 947,000 Michiganders are covered by Medicare Advantage, which rolls Medicare Part A and Part B into a single plan.2 Most plans also include prescription drug coverage, and some even include dental, vision, and/or hearing coverage.
Current Or Future Msu Retirees
Retirees under age 65 should contact Medicare to enroll for Medicare Parts A & B at least three months prior to reaching age 65 .
Retirees age 65 and older should contact Medicare to enroll for Medicare Parts A & B at least three months prior to the employee’s retirement from MSU . You may be eligible for a Special Enrollment Period requiring completion of Medicare’s Request For Employment Information form, which MSU Human Resources will sign.
Failure to enroll in Medicare will result in disenrollment from your MSU retiree health plan. In addition, there could be a penalty added to your Medicare premium for not enrolling timely.
You must provide a copy of all Medicare identification cards and/or your Medicare Beneficiary Identifier number to Human Resources to continue MSU health and prescription coverage.

- Your first and last name and birth date
