Can I Print A Replacement Medicare Card
If your red, white, and blue Original Medicare card is lost or stolen, or if it is too faded or damaged to use, you can replace it by calling 1-800-MEDICARE . By entering into your mymedicare.gov account, you may also request or print a new card. Replaced cards will be sent to the address listed in mymedicare.gov.
In addition, any Medicare card that has been reported as lost or stolen will be replaced without charge. To report a lost or stolen card, call 1-800-MEDICARE . You must call within 60 days of receiving your card statement indicating that it has been lost or stolen. After this time, you can only request a new card.
You cannot print a new Medicare card at an office location for which you do not have an appointment. If you lose or steal your card, you can call 1-800-MEDICARE to request a new one.

Typically, your Medicare card will arrive in the mail within 30 days of enrollment. Those who are already receiving Social Security or Railroad Retirement Board retirement benefits and are automatically enrolled in Medicare at age 65 will usually get their card a few months before their 65th birthday.

How To Protect Your Medicare Card
Medicare cards are made from paper, so they are likely to wear out from use over time. It is up to you to protect your card to keep it in good condition. You also need to safeguard your card to prevent identity theft of your Medicare information.
Some people consider laminating their card to protect it from wear and tear. The Social Security Administration does not recommend doing that, however, because laminating the card may interfere with its security features. Instead, use a clear plastic cardholder or sleeve to protect it from damage and keep it visible for your providers.
The Social Security Administration also suggests you consider photocopying your card. Keep the copy in a safe location, such as a lockbox or safe deposit box with other important documents.

Obtaining A Temporary Medicare Card
Once youve requested a replacement Medicare card, you can expect it to arrive via mail within 30 days. If you have scheduled a medical appointment or need to fill a prescription before then which will require proof of Medicare, then you can request a letter from either Social Security or the RRB that can be used as temporary proof of your Medicare coverage.
This letter should mail out within ten days. If you need it sooner, you can receive a letter if you visit your nearest Social Security or RRB office.
